Mountain Collegium Early Music and Folk Music Workshop is invested in serving the amateur early music community. With a diverse roster of faculty who are considered some of the most knowledgeable teachers and leaders in their field, Mountain Collegium can also offer guidance in developing skills for group teaching and coaching. Thanks to a generous donation from Mountain Collegium participant and supporters Charles and Theresa Schultz, we will offer up to six intern positions to developing teachers who are already working as new professionals in their area of training or who are pre-professional and pursuing the training required to teach and lead in the early music community. Positions are open for most Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque string and wind instrumentalists.
Applicants should have an interest in perpetuating and strengthening the culture of workshop learning among amateur musicians and in working with students of all playing levels. A high level of performing skills on at least one early instrument is expected, while proficiency on a secondary instrument is a plus.
Applicants who are chosen for an intern position will receive free tuition, room, and board for Mountain Collegium Early Music and Folk Music Workshop. Travel expenses will be the responsibility of the applicant.
A daily class schedule, which will be determined prior to the workshop in conjunction with the Intern Coordinator, might include a class with a faculty mentor; a technique class for a primary or secondary instrument; or other classes that help the applicant develop teaching skills. In addition, each intern will lead a large group evening playing session or present a lecture. Interns may be asked to perform on the faculty recital. Interns will also participate in class planning prior to the workshop with their assigned mentor.Applicants should complete and submit the application below no later than May 1, 2026. A minimum of two references is required, but up to three may be submitted. Please have them submit reference letters to xxxxxxxxxxx@mountaincollegium.org before the application deadline.
